Advantages of Welded Plate Heat Exchanger

Publish Time: 2023-07-03     Origin: Site

The heat exchanger plate of welded plate heat exchanger is made of special stainless steel and pressed by a special mold. The surface is smooth and not easily scaled. Its unique corrugated design allows the fluid to produce turbulence even at low flow rates, resulting in high heat transfer efficiency. The entire plate bundle is welded by argon arc welding, without using any non-metallic sealing materials to ensure that the welded plate heat exchanger is suitable for most heat transfer processes. As a result, it has high temperature and pressure resistance and can be applied to extreme working conditions of 300℃ and 3.0Mpa pressure. At the same time, its compact structure design, efficient heat transfer performance, and ease of use and flexibility decided to be born with a complete replacement of the traditional shell and tube heat exchanger superior performance, so that welded plate heat exchanger in petrochemical, heating, power, metallurgy, bio-energy, and other industries are widely used. Below we will introduce the advantages of welded plate heat exchangers.

Here is the content list:

  • Wide range of application

  • High heat transfer efficiency

  • Small pressure loss

  • Small footprint

Wide range of application

Since the structure does not require rubber gasket sealing, both weldable and pressable materials can be manufactured. The diverse structural design allows for a wide variety of welded plate heat exchangers. Welded plate heat exchangers can be used under various physical characteristics of temperature and pressure, as well as space conditions.

High heat transfer efficiency

In the plate structure, the removable plate heat exchanger is used, and its complex fluid flow pattern can be produced by changing the shape and spacing of the plates, which in turn brings into play its heat transfer capability to a certain extent, with a Reynolds number of several hundred to achieve the turbulence effect and get a higher heat transfer performance, compared with the shell and tube heat exchanger, the total heat transfer coefficient is 3-5 times that of the shell and tube type; the same working In addition, the minimum fouling coefficient of welded plate heat exchanger is only 1/5 of that of the tubular heat exchanger, thus its heat transfer performance is excellent.

Small pressure loss

The unique plate structure allows the fluid to fill the flow channel formed by the plates. In this case, all plate surfaces are involved in heat exchange, and in the flow channel, the medium can achieve dead zone free flow, which in turn can reduce the kinetic energy consumption to a certain extent and further save the operation cost. This is an important reason why welded plate heat exchangers have become mainstream in the market.

Small footprint

The welded plate heat exchanger has a compact structure and a wide range of scalability for applicable space conditions, allowing free exchange. The heat exchange area per unit area is 2-5 times that of shell and tube type, and there is no need to set aside maintenance space for extracting the tube bundle. When the same heat exchange task is achieved, the footprint of welded plate heat exchanger is about 1/6-1/10 of the shell and tube type heat exchanger, which can greatly reduce the infrastructure investment cost.

The welded plate heat exchanger is a new-generation product that integrates the advantages of the detachable plate heat exchanger and shell-and-tube heat exchanger. It is launched to make up for the application gap of the detachable plate heat exchanger, while its high temperature, high pressure, and strong corrosion resistance ensure the replacement of most of the traditional shell-and-tube heat exchanger conditions.
